Product overview

Pawn’d Chess is a controller-first chess trainer from Normal Man Labs. Players can choose human-like Maia AI from 600 to 2600 Elo, play ranked games to track local progress, or use Practice Mode to undo and redo moves while exploring a position.

The game supports creating, loading, copying, and sharing positions with FEN, plus saving and favoriting positions for later study. It also includes local hotseat play and complete chess rules, including castling, en passant, promotion, checkmate, stalemate, and draws.

Controls, accessibility, and Steam Deck

Steam’s public feature panel lists full controller support, Steam Input, and Xbox and PlayStation controller support. Its accessibility feature panel lists keyboard-only, mouse-only, and touch-only play; a resizable interface; color alternatives; contrast controls; narrated menus; playable-without-vision support; no quick-time events; adjustable difficulty; save-anytime support; and play-at-your-own-pace support.

Pawn’d Chess is built and tested for handheld Steam Deck play. Valve will publish its customer-facing compatibility rating at launch; do not describe the game as Steam Deck Verified before Valve publishes that rating.
